We’ve been sitting on the sideline as digital signage was being rolled out, trying to figure out how we participate. And what value we bring. Most people might ask, “Why would Roland get into digital signage?” We’ve been asking the opposite question, “Why wouldn’t Roland get into digital signage?” After all, we’ve helped quite a few signmakers get started with their first vinyl cutter, their first digital printer… why not their first digital sign?
And maybe sign shops should be asking themselves the same question. “Why wouldn’t we sell a digital sign along with a retail display, channel letters or a vehicle wrap?” It’s an add-on sale. To your existing customer base. Incremental revenue. Who doesn’t want that? Shipments of commercial displays and digital signs are increasing 15-30% a year, and sign buyers are looking to their traditional source of displays to buy them – sign shops.
But it has to work. It has to be simple understand. Content needs to be easy. It needs to be a complete, basic solution. Sure, maybe you’ll graduate to a more complex, multi-display solution. But let’s take that first step. It has to have great support & training. It has to have some basic content to get your started. But, it also has to just work.
That’s where we come in. IMHO, Roland is good at coming out with a complete solution, that’s easy to use, provide good training in the form of webinars, live training and support, and putting products together that just work.
We think we can ‘demystify’ digital signage for our core customer: sign makers.
So far, the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. Questions like, “How soon can I get it? How much will it cost? How much can I sell it to my customers for?” Are all flowing in. We’re on it. We’ve got some work to do, but the initial reaction was so good, we need to look at getting this right. So, stay tuned.
